Background

Mr. Yaodong Chen, a US/China licensed Patent Lawyer, is a partner at Lawjay Partners. Mr. Chen had led China IP practice as a partner at Duane Morris’ Shanghai Office and served for many years as an APAC IP Director at AkzoNobel. His understanding of the corporate environment enabled him to deliver business oriented legal solutions to meet the company’s immediate needs as well as long-term business goals.

Mr. Chen has over 25 years’ experience in IP and related commercial laws. As a patent lawyer, he serves companies in life science, biotech, medical device, pharmaceutical and chemical industries on patent prosecution, ex parte reexamination, inter partes review and Hatch-Waxman practices. His expertise in trademarks, copyright, trade secrets and unfair competition also supports brand companies to build and grow their business globally. Mr. Chen has provided comprehensive legal services to clients on IP litigation, business transaction, regulatory and compliance issues. He has helped many companies excel in the whole business life cycle from R&D to IPO.

Mr. Chen is an expert in IP dispute resolution. He is an arbitrator at Guangzhou Arbitration Commission and had served many years at CIETAC. In addition to his expertise in alternative dispute resolution, he also has substantial experience in commercial litigations, administrative proceedings and cross border investigations.

Mr. Chen has been a key speaker in many international legal forums sharing his insights on IP laws and China commercial practices. He is one of the chief editors and key authors of the New Trends of Intellectual Property Rights – Practice and Essentials, published by Peking University Press.
